Already in 2009 the El Salvador Christian Reformed Church in consultation with Lou Wagenveld developed a significant new initiative for joint Word and Deed ministry.   That was a real milestone; “transformation that will make a difference for our society and for the Glory of God” is one of the phrases lifted from the document. The agreement seeks to keep these two dimensions as much together as possible, under the direct guidance and supervision of the national church board, with professional advisement then by former national CRWRC (now World Renew) staff person Alba Lopez, and currently by Hilda Romero who works for TEAR Fund. The agreement outlines eight points for the execution of this initiative; presently the agreed budget is for an annual $8,000 with 10% to be raised locally. Important is the mobilization of many of the members, for prayers, witness, growth, and service.
During and post-Covid there has been a loss of some momentum, although training classes called “Church, Community, and Transformation” took place. In 2021 some relief assistance was given, but normal program operations slowed. The Directiva Nacional was reorganized and is working toward renewed visioning and implementation going into 2023.

Funding on the North American end goes through a longstanding non-profit set up expressly
for channeling assistance abroad; receipts are issued for tax exempt purposes.
